Bar Harbor

On our second day in Maine, we set off for Bar Harbor. It was an adorable little place, lined with cute little shops and food that smelled like heaven, food that if you smelled, you could gain five pounds! The fudge, to die for! The kids weren’t too happy about walking around with a bunch of places to stop and look around in, especially since every other word out of our mouths were “Please don’t touch anything”. We bought lots of yummy things, hot dogs and ice cream and fudge for the road. We even stopped at a doggie store and bought Lady a brand new Lobster to destroy when we got home (it’s still alive to this day!! shocking. I know!). It was nice to get out of the car for a while and use our legs for a bit. On our way out, we stopped at the dock to take in that lovely salty sea smell, my favorite, and of course to get some wonderful pictures!

What a gorgeous Hotel!

The next stop on our adventure list was Acadia National Park. That’s ACADIA not ARCADIA! The funniest thing the whole trip was Acadia. I never realized that it wasn’t Arcadia. Everyone in Massachusetts adds R’s to weird places or removes them completely! It was so hilarious when we drove through the park entrance and there was no R!!! We were laughing sooo hard! Our first stop was Thunder Hole. An amazing creation of Mother Nature. It really sounds like thunder when a big enough wave makes it’s way up to the hole. Xander was so captivated by it that he did not want to leave! I love it when kids are taken by nature. Can’t wait to go back there some day and explore the entire Acadia Park!

After Thunder Hole, we made the drive up to Cadillac Mountain. What a beautiful drive it was! I loved seeing all the trees and all the lovely green plants and gorgeous flowers and the beaver dens! Definitely a first on the beaver dens. That was totally amazing!! Once to the top of the winding road, the view was spectacular! I have never seen anything more breath taking. I could have stayed up there for hours just watching nature and the world doing its thing. Though a short lived visit, it was still really wonderful.

Travelers Stones, each time a traveler passed by, they would place another stone on the pile.
Pretty awesome I think.

Our family enjoying every moment together

After our adventure in Acadia National Park, we headed over to Gary and Jo’s house for dinner. I have only ever met Gary once, a couple years ago at our wedding reception in Massachusetts. I couldn’t wait to meet Jo! We had so much fun that night. We had a spaghetti dinner, which was absolutely amazing, then we played some Phase Ten and some Apples to Apples. We laughed until our bellies ached and we had tears in our eyes! Even Xander was getting in on some of the apples to apples action. Zoey, out little angel, fell asleep shortly after we started playing, that poor girl was completely exhausted and just wanted to sleep! It was really a great visit.
