The Birthday Kids: Brandi 15, Laura 28, & Lance 24.
SURPRISE!!
We have couple of busy birthday months. In August, we have Lance’s and Brandi’s Birthday and the beginning of September is Laura’s birthday. This year we decided to put them all together for a big birthday surprise blow out! It took three families to plan it and lots of very strategic hiding places for party stuff and gifts since no house was safe. We decided to go with a Aloha Hollywood theme. They wanted karaoke and music party (which was planned by Lance and Brandi months ago) and we took it up a notch with adding the Aloha (which also added lots of bright end of summer colors!!) We had a karaoke machine set up in the living room and streamers everywhere and Lei’s for everyone to ware!
PRESENT TIME!
Since the Birthday Kids were getting anxious to open their gifts, we did that right away. It was kind of nice, they could open up their stuff and use it or wear it for the rest of the party (Brandi got a really awesome video camera/digital camera that she use during karaoke!) It was great getting all that madness out of the way!
Lance loves the transformers just as much as Xander, now they both have Transformer shirts to wear! Lance also got a Wii from him mom and dad for his birthday!!! It was more of a family birthday gift, but Lance and Xander were SOOO excited when they saw it! Their smiles could light up the world! Even Zoey got in on the action! She loves going through boxes and bags! Have you ever read If You Give A Mouse A Cookie? Well Laura got If You Give A Cat A Cupcake for her birthday (the cat in the story looks a lot like her kitty) I think we spent an hour or so reading those books and I don’t even think the kids were around, lol!!!
KARAOKE!
Next was the karaoke! Wow! That was so much fun and sooo loud! Everyone had a great time. Xander spent most of the time running up and down the hallway with the other kids, Ally and Richard. Me and Zoey just kind of hung out together because it was a bit loud for her. We sang some old songs like Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and My Boyfriend’s Back and some newer ones too like All American Rejects and some Beyonce. And everyone got into it, adults and kids, moms and dads and even grandparents! It was awesome!
CAKE…or Be Caked?
The greatest part of the night had to be the cake! Brandi had been telling us all for the past few months that she wanted her face smashed in a cake. Well, Lesley took the opportunity and smashed her face in the cake! It was a beautiful sight! It was so perfect, they blew out their candles and Lesley calmly removed her glasses and pushed her face down into the cake, it really could not have been any better! After Brandi got caked, so did a few others. The other interesting fact… blue icing stains everything blue for a week! Brandi had the Aloha Hollywood imprint on her face for a few days and my grandfathers beard was blue for a couple weeks!

Oh, and we had a celebrity make a special appearance just for their birthdays!! DJ Zoey! She sat on the floor and played with and sifted through all the karaoke CDs that night. I think it was the whole shinny object thing that kept her attention!
The night was a total success! Everyone had a great time and we all dance and sang and laughed more and harder than any other night and everyone went home happy and the lucky birthday kids went home another year old! Until next year…
