Hello Summer!

That's it. The school year has officially come to a close. For all of us. My semester ended in April (lucky me!) and the kids' last day was June 2nd.

On their last day of 2nd and 7th grades.

We were so very anxious for that day to come. It seemed to arrive at a snail's pace with so many things before it. We had the end of the year Book Fair (which we LOOOVE helping out with and we do have the bestest librarian ever!) then it was on to open house, an end of the year guitar concert for our resident middle schooler, the Olympics for our elementary schooler and then FINALLY... the. last. day. of. school, complete with BBQ and face painting. While it all sounds very laid back and cool, it was chaos, all jammed into the month of May. I'm incredibly grateful for the friends and family in my life that help to support our kids at school with endless hours of volunteering, and in this case, face paint. It was all very fun, and well deserved by these kiddos, but we are glad summer is finally upon us.

These are our months to regain our children. To pull them out of the endless humdrum of school work and classroom walls. We have already made plans for beach days, camping, BBQ's, our trip to Ohio and Massachusetts is already planned and we are ready to go! Late nights, sleeping in, video games and baking... we are doing it all.

The only thing we haven't counted on are these triple digit days. It has been as hot as 111 degrees. It;s killer. It's putting a damper on all of our moods and will to get outside and enjoy our time off. It won't last forever though and we will be right back out adventuring and enjoying our late nights and warm days, but for now we will enjoy our air conditioner and lazy days!

Until next time....
