It was like we had Halloween every day that weekend.
Honestly, I don’t remember ever being home that weekend or what sitting down was or what life was outside my car! It was a great weekend none the less. Between school activities, family and church activities, it was nothing but go go go and hope we beat the rain. This is when it all really starts, all the busy-ness. The best part of the year is the last six months or so. All the birthdays, and school stuff, and all the holidays and insane amount of family time is pure bliss. Even though things are bit crazy and rough and some times darn right unbearable, this time of year makes every bit of it worth wild.
It started Friday morning with the school Halloween parade. Of course, every day before this was absolutely gorgeous, but on the day we had to be outside super early in the morning Mother Nature decided to have a deep freeze moment. Good thing the kids kept moving or we would have had to come back at the spring thaw to get them! We love the parade and all the dressed up kids. Takes us back to when we were kids and when we did the same thing (which by the way, seems soooo long ago!). We saw lots of princesses, super heroes, Mario and Yoshi were there, lots of cute little witches, even a shark attack victim! The kids were amazing this year!
Each year, they have a canned food drive. If the kids raise a certain amount of cans, usually the amount of the year (2010 cans this year), The Principal would kiss something… an animal. Last year, he kissed a calf! Super cute, the calf that is! The kids LOVED it! Not once, not twice, but THREE times! Apparently, he didn’t learn his lesson. Once again, they raised their cans, or got pretty close, and he had to kiss another cute little creature, a goat! And again, not once, not twice, but THREE times! He is an amazing Principal and he always reminded the kids how GROSS it was to kiss the goat! Lesson learned, definitely not! We can’t wait to see what animal it will be next year!
They also had a drawing. Each day of the week, there was a theme. Monday was wear red day, in honor of the Red Ribbon Week (Drug Free is the way To Be!), Tuesday was crazy hat day, Wednesday was sports day, Thursday was pajama day and Friday of course was Costume day. If you dressed up everyday, they would give you a raffle ticket to be entered into a drawing to win a bike! Lance and I never though, oh hey wouldn’t it be great to win that bike, we were excited that one of those awesome kids would be going home with a great gift for having such great school spirit. Wouldn’t you know it, they called Xander’s name!!!! He was just as shocked as we were! It took him a minute to figure out that he had won the bike! This boy has some really amazing luck! Congrats sweet boy, you deserve it! He has worked so hard this year. Hasn’t had one homework argument or melt down since school began. Always brings home papers with amazing grades and marks and the teacher never has anything negative to say about him, only how sweet and helpful he is. It really is amazing. I never thought school would be like this. You always here stores about how awful school is or can be. I think we set our selves up from the beginning thinking its going to be an endless battle. We always had positive thoughts and always encouraged Xander to do his best and always ask for help if he needed it. So far school has been an amazing adventure and we all have learned so much! Lets just hope that it stays like this for the next 11 years! So what I was getting at… Xander also achieved student of the month that day! He was receiving an award later in the day! Seriously, this boy had a very busy day! We are so very proud of him!
After such a long and amazing day and just before a long candy filled night, pizza was a must for dinner, in honor of Xander’s accomplishments of the day! Then we headed out to the church for Trunk or Treating! This was our first time going and we were all very excited. They had games setup and there was a chili bake off, yuumm! It was so cold outside that night, instead of trunk or treating, they tabled or treated! They went from table to table to snag their candy. They had a great time and had tons of fun playing with some other kids, too. They slept very well that night, a little over tired and woke up kind of early the next day, but we already knew that sleep that weekend was going to happen!
Xander was dressed up as Link for most of the night, it just go to hot further into the night!
All night long, Zoey munched on Lollies! Every time I looked at her, she had another!
Heading home, we were all ready to be home in our nice cozy beds.

The rest of our Halloween weekend will have to wait for another time, almost time to pick Xander up from school!!

Oh and the about having good luck, Lance always won an MP3 player at work earlier in the week. An MP3 player, a bike, Student of the month, a Halloween carnival at the school (which he won 4 fish at!!!) and Trunk or treating all in the same weekend, all in the same day!!! It was like all the planets lining up just for us just for a day!! All too much Luck for one family to handle, though we did enjoy every bit of the day!
