We had some pretty amazing adventures this summer. It was nice having Xander home from school all day, we missed him around here! We celebrated a ton of birthdays, took a few road trips, made a few park trips and lots of other fun things.
Xander turned six years old. Wait just a second, let me catch my breath. My little handsome boy, six!? I honestly can’t believe how much he has grown, not just physically, but how much he has grown as a little boy. His sense of humor is to die for, he is as quick as a whip and such a little smarty pants! We never get anything past this kid. He always keeps us on our toes and is always teaching his little sister something new everyday. Still can’t get past the whole six thing!! They do grow up too fast.
We took many trips to Casa De Fruta this year. We love going down there and the kids love the simplicity of it, not too many distractions. They have a train, Casa de Choo Choo and a Merry-Go-Round, a candy shop, and a restaurant and a cute little shop that has lots of fun things to buy like cheese’s and kitchen decor and even some stuff from Stonewall Kitchen which is based out on the east coast. We usually make at least one trip to Stonewall when we go out to Massachusetts to visit! It’s one of our favorite getaways, its never usually too expensive and never gets old! We even get to feed the peacocks that roam the area. They walk right up to us looking for food, so far their favorite snack is goldfish!
This year we even got to see a burning car on HWY 152. Seems strange to take a picture of someone’s misfortunes, but it’s a regular thing on this highway. If a week goes by without a major car accident, then it’s a miracle. This is the same road that my parents drive an hour and a half each direction to work everyday. I worry, and that’s saying it lightly.
What else did we do this summer? We adopted a puppy, a 8 month old Terrier Doberman and we named her Lady. She is now 11 months and growing like crazy, though she wont get too much bigger than what she is now. She even passed her puppy classes! She is an amazing dog and we are very happy to have her apart of our family. We also bought a new car! We have been looking for a better family car and something a little better on gas than our gas guzzling truck. We are now the owners of a 1999 Honda CR-V and we love it!
Park Park Park!! We did lots of park trips when the weather was cool enough. Nothing better than a morning park run to make nap time that much easier. Zoey would nap for three hours and Xander would rest for an hour and a half! Those were good days, those naps made their moods so much better! Summer was some what difficult this year. Xander loves school a lot and not having school over the summer made for a very bored all the time six year old. We tried to keep him busy with so many different things but I guess its just not the same as school! Even Zoey had a tough time adjusting to Xander being home all the time, lots of little disputes all summer long. I think we are all much happier now that school has begun again. I miss my little Xander, but he is much happier with something to occupy to time seven hours a day.
I think we are going to miss summer when its gone. Though the heat isn’t our friend, its our busiest time of year.
Better start thinking up some of those indoor activities!
