(My Star Wars boys!)
Joe came to visit us again out here in Cali. We love it when he comes to visit. He is like a brother to us and an uncle to Xander and Zoey. They just LOVE him! Love to jump on him and play with him and make him help with homework and play video games and lots of other really awesome things. He flew in on a Saturday night at 7:30ish. Which was pretty good since the Grandparents offered to babysit for us! (THANKYOU!!!) We were able to stay out a bit and get some food and drive around forever just looking for ice cream or a distant relative, like a milk shake or sundae. At least we didn’t hit any traffic!

We even managed to have Joe for a holiday! We always celebrate week day holidays on weekends, either before or after. Its easier on those who have to work the next day or commute. The Sunday after Joe arrived we celebrated St. Patrick’s day. Its on of our favs! Who doesn’t love corned beef and cabbage! we had a great time, especially the back yard football! We even brought along our new bubble machine for the little ones or little one! Xander, Lance and Joe played football most of the day and thankfully they only smashed Xander in the face once, poor kid. Boys will be boys I guess. Even Zoey managed to get in on the action and Ally did the sports broadcasting, making sure to give us the play by play!

(Poor Xander, right after having a football smash into his cute little face!)
We didn’t do too much during the week. Xander had school and Lance had a few days that he needed to work. It was most video games which was amazing! Joe, being the amazing friend that he is, helped us buy Final Fantasy XIII!!! An AWESOME game, probably one of my favorite FF games to date. I love it and would play it all day if I could! We also went bowling later in the week. We usually go bowling at least once while he is here. Its kind of like our thing. Even when we are out in Massachusetts, we go bowling. We love it, the kids love it! Xander was a bit anti-bowling in the beginning and Zoey kept trying to run down the lanes, but over all it was a great way to get out of the house. After, we stopped for ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery! We love that place too. Lance worked there for about two years. We even got to see Lance’s old bosses, which is always great.
Have I mentioned how thankful we are to my parents? Well, we are super thankful for them. Not only because they did a ton of babysitting for us while Joe was here, but just because they are awesome! In our house, there is sort of a chain of importance. Its one of those when daddy is home, the kids want him and only him, when Brandi or Ally are over, its all about them, but when Grandma is home… no one else is above her, not even Mommy! Its cute and we love it, it kind of gives us a minute or two to get something done or just take a deep breath.
On the last night that Joe was here, the grandparents babysat for us once again. Us “big kids” took one last night out. We went to dinner at The Olive Garden, which was ridiculously yummy! After we decided to go to Boomers. Its like a huge arcade with bumper boats and laser tag, mini-golf, and some really awesome go-carts! We did two rounds of golf, laser tag, two rounds of go carts and spent 250 points in the arcade, oh and did I mention the batting cages??? The boys did that, it kind of freaked me out a bit! HA! It was really nice getting out just the three of us doing something fun and somewhat grown up (kinda sorta! lol) We spent out tickets on toys for the kids and Joe just HAD to have this Family Guy thing! lol! It was great. The only part I didn’t enjoy, when I got home, I realized that I had left my cell phone on the ticket counter at Boomers!!!!! AHHHH! Again.. my amazing parents drove all the way out to Modesto for me and picked it up that night. Awesome…darn right!
That night the boys stayed up and watch the new Harry Potter movie while I tried to catch as many Z’s as I could before driving back down to San Jose the next morning (6:30am flight!). Once again, those awesome grandparents that I was talking about a few sentences back, babysat the kids that morning after we left at 3:30am. The kids didn’t even wake until about 7am (of course they sleep in on the morning that we can’t'!). Both, Joe and Lance, passed out on the way down to the airport!
It was a great week. Sad that it was only a week, but hey you take what you can get right? We are already planning a trip out to Massachusetts in June and Joe is going make the drive, too. We can’t wait to get out there and see everyone again, Nana and Grampy, and Auntie Sherena, to see how big all the little ones have gotten, Logan and Luke and Emmy and to see the new twin girls. We just can’t wait!
