Well, the kids didn’t sleep in. They actually woke up earlier than normal! Which we definitely knew they were going to! Zoey was already in our bed around 5am that morning and Xander came in to wake us all up a bit later, 6:30 I think. Our Christmas tradition is that the kids get to open their stockings until everyone else has woken up. That is exactly what they did, lol!
The morning went so great. No melt downs or tantrums, which is quite unusually for these little ones! Xander especially, he is not a morning person. They opened all their presents and were happy kids all morning.
Later that morning, Xander found a treasure map in the tree. He followed that map to another map hidden in the kitchen. That map led him to a special treasure waiting for him hidden inside of our entertainment center. What could it be….
It was a special gift from Nana and Grampy!!! He was so excited! A treasure chest filled with other treasures! Pirate hat and coloring books and magnets and foamy stickers and tons of other neat goodies! He was in pirate heaven!
Later that night everyone came over for a Mexican Christmas Dinner! We had enchiladas. chili Colorado, spicy beef, Mexican rice and so much other yummy foods!! It is sooo delicious! Since on Thanksgiving we always have turkey and all the trimmings and all the other traditional foods, we love to spice things up on Christmas, Its a great way to break up all the holiday food.
He is our family group photo. We love all of them. We are missing a few, like our family out in Mass. and both of our kids are missing, one sleeping and the other running around else where. We all had a great time.
Here are some other photos random photos from that day.
Zoey trying to play with the kitty, which definitely wasn’t game!
We try to always get at least one picture of ourselves.

Xander got this really awesome car from his Great Great Aunt and Uncle Shirley and Bill. After he opened it and we put the batteries in it, we never really saw him again the rest of the night! He didn’t even want to open the rest of his gifts! The wheels lit up and it did some really awesome tricks and all the kids loved it! We ended up opening all of the kids gifts since they were too busy with Xanders new race car. It has been eight days since Christmas and he has yet to put it down.
Christmas was really great for us. The best Christmas to date we think. We had so many wonderful people to share it with this year, such a blessing. We considered this Zoey’s first real Christmas, too, since she was much too young last year to really enjoy it. We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas this year too!
