Every year right after thanksgiving, usually that weekend, we put our lights up. We have candy canes, big and small, lighted trees, snowman and Santa Claus’, and a few reindeer (two of which were so kindly stolen from us this year… bah humbug) and a few hundred lights or so, which we never actually use them all. Its a great feat which usually takes the better half of an already cold day and its always a family effort. Except for mommy and the youngest. She only lasted for about an hour before she was tired and/or hungry. In the end it was great. We hooked it all up to our music box and timer and wait for night. Sadly, we didn’t get any video before we had to take some stuff down and put away the music box. (We didn’t want more stuff to disappear on us…) I will have to try and get out there and get a pic though.
The kids definitely loved the outside time. Xander was out nearly all day and Zoey was off and on throughout the day. Thankfully it wasn’t too cold outside, yet it wasn’t too warm either!
Later that night, we decided to finish off our day with some tree decorating. Zoey mainly emptied all the boxes of ornaments as we ran around to rescue them from Zoey’s little mouth. Xander did all the lower tree decor and we did everything above the four foot child. Except now, the lower half of the tree is bare. Zoey managed to rip ever ornament off the lower two feet of the tree and each one has been kindly relocated to above the two foot mark! Its cute. We just leave all the plastic snow flakes and jingle bells on the bottom, to keep her busy.
Oh, and the other love she has is the Christmas Train that circles out tree. She just loves it. They both do. For hours at a time they will sit and watch it circle, back and forth, forward, backward, round and round, with music, without music, and everything in between. Those are wonderful moments.
