We did it. We bought a playground. It didn’t seem like much work looking at it already put together in the middle of costco and six boxes didn’t really seem like a lot. Then we read the directions and started opening boxes.. and bags and bags of nuts and bolts. You know what they say, never judge a book by its cover… Well never judge a playground by its boxes.
Just a few friendly boxes filled with lots and lots of unlabeled pieces of wood. We had to measure each piece at each step of the directions. It was very long and tedious…
and then there were the nuts and bolts. Twenty something bags of twenty different nuts, bolts, washers, and screws. Thankfully, at least those were labeled!
Then the real fun began. My dad and Lance started the whole process while my mom and I were out. It took nearly two weeks and fifteen hours to get just the club house up and together. I think the greatest part of building this playground is that we all got to be apart of it, even the little ones.
The first floor frame. Getting ready for the second floor flooring.
Lance and I got the second floor partially together while Xander was at school. Half a wall and the flooring after an hour and a half of work…
Everyone pitched in. The kids had the best time handing over screws and small pieces of wood and the tape measure, the tape measure of course being the best toy a 6 year old and a 2 year old could fight over!
2nd floor completed and about to put on the slide.
The guys hard at work. Almost slide time!
We did finally finish the slide and all the other little pieces. The only thing we still have left to get to are the swings. I’ll have to get some pics of the finished product. Its amazing really. Well worth every penny. Its strong and sturdy and holds up in our 25 mph winds and to our two little ones and two teenagers, all at the same time!!! That’s a lot to say these days!
So far, one of our best investments yet :)
This thing is going to make summer great. Even if it was a pain to put together!
