We took our yearly family trip to the corn maze this past weekend. We have gone every year for four years now. We love it! The farm is family owned and are very nice people and the Xander has always had a great time there. This was Zoey’s first trip to the corn maze and pumpkin patch and she loved every minute of it! They even survived a six post corn maze (1.7 miles!) It was a bit chilly but that didn’t seem to affect the kids in anyway!

Xander just loved picking up all the ears of corn that had fallen off the stalks! He carried them through most of the maze refusing to let any of them go! Then he realized that he couldn’t hold a pumpkin and four ears of corn at the same time… and down they went! Except for one, which he brought home with him!

I think the greatest part of this pumpkin patch corn maze is that they grow everything themselves! Even the pumpkins!! We didn’t actually get to go out into the field and pick them ourselves but it was great knowing they came from the local farmer!
They have a courtyard filled with fun things for the kids to do. Every year they have a hay pyramid. Usually they have two, one big, one little, and the boys love to race up and down them and stand at the tippy top and look out over everything! Zoey had a great time just pulling the hay apart and trying to figure out what it was… and tasting it a bit!
Then there is the corn kernel box. Thousands of little pieces of corn that get everywhere and into everything, shoes, jackets, pocks, especially shoes…lol! Xander loves to bury himself in it and Zoey just wanted to eat it and fling it!

Mom and Dad just trying to stay warm!

The John Deer tractors! You could race around a small oval… if you could get them to move in the dirt! Xander decided to just run around the track instead!

Xander’s favorite part is the hay maze. Its just tall enough to lose a kid and play hid and seek and tag. While the kids stand in one place waiting to be found, we would keep running from place to place till he caught up to us! We always have some great laughs in there and get some great exercise at the same time! lol

Every year we have gotten a picture of Xander in the wheelbarrow and so we have continued the tradition with Xander and Zoey. They love it so much we couldn’t keep them out!

Here is the maze from an aerial view.
The white lines are the paths and the green is the corn around the paths.
Every year they create a new picture. Patterson (the town where the maze is.) just turned 100 this year so they created the maze in honor of Patterson this year.

This really is our favorite time of year. There is so much to do and see and the weather is just amazing! It feels like fall once you go to the pumpkin patch and it looks like fall now that the leaves are falling off the trees. We can’t wait for it to finally begin to smell like fall and yes there is a smell!!
Well, until next time!!
Love you guys!
